Katherine Long is the Director of Nurture and Outreach at Saint Mark's UMC in Brandon, MS. She is on a journey to become a Chaplain certified to provide pastoral care, especially to the healthcare sector. Her passion is for people; she applies this passion through outreach and missional projects in her local communities and by volunteering with local hospitals and VA's. In her ministry, she is a big supporter of breaking bread together as a symbol of living in communion with her literal and spiritual neighbours. Presently, she is trying to breathe life into a 5 stage neighbourhoods-of-need' project', stage one being a rooftop solar initiative. Besides being known for her sincerity, and catching energy, she can always offer a good 'dad' joke, immediately followed by a cup of tea to compensate for it. But, just as with her calling, at home, she is rarely found within its walls.
